Padre Azul Reposado is matured in hand-selected oak bourbon barrels for at least eight months. The oak influence gives this premium tequila a particular complexity that unfolds on the palate, especially when enjoyed neat.
Slow-cooked in traditional “Mampostería” ovens, fermented without artificial yeast and distilled in small batches. Everything with Padre Azul is 100% Handmade.
It is important that the plant reaches its maturity thus obtaining more sugars for fermentation. Specific flavours and aromas are developed. If it is too ripe, the final flavours of tequila can be vinegary. Our wait is between 8 to 10 years. This guarantees better organoleptic characteristics in each of our batches. Here our jimadores are important because they know exactly when to harvest the agaves.
You won’t find any compromises in the design of the unusual “Padre Azul” bottles either. They are hand-made and feature a 270 gram skull that creatively picks up on Mexico’s death’s head culture which is also portrayed during the famous festivities of Día de los muertos, the Day of the Dead. In Mexico, the skull is also a symbol for eternal friendship.
