The colour is the personality of Roby Marton gin, and partly given by the original symphony of natural botanicals selected to produce it. Roby's creativity uses an unusual process - a result of a blending operation between an alembic distillate and a cold brew. In fact, part of the gin is produced by stills traditionally used to produce Grappa. The other part is using the method of the cold compound.
After the blending of the 2 spirits, they start a process of microfiltration: in order to prevent altering the taste and to savour the fullness and variety of it, Roby Marton doesn't use macro filtration.Having been subjected to two processes of distillation, during the final process a part of the distillate is put into a steel barrel in a cold infusion for the final refinement with eleven botanicals: liquorice roots, juniper berries, peel of lemon and orange, cloves, cinnamon, ginger roots, pimento berries, horseradish, anise seeds and pink pepper.
The Italian Mule
- 50ml Original Roby Marton Gin
- 125ml Pimento Ginger Beer
- 1 Lime (to squeeze)
- 2 drops Angostura Bitters
- 2 mint leaves and lime wedge
Complex, clean and well structured. The nose is both spicy and citric, with a nice balance of liquorice, ginger and juniper. The palate is dry with an uncommon and persisting exotic spicy flavour bestowed by ginger and pink pepper. Finishes dry with a citrus back.
